Shirley M. Youse, age 87, formerly of Bowers, passed away on Monday September 5, 2016 in Las Vegas, NV, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Clifford W. Youse who passed in December 2007.
Born on April 21, 1929 in Maxatawny Township, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Silsdorf and Beulah (DeLong) Silsdorf.
Shirley worked at the former Wenton Shoe Co., Kutztown, last working for Adidas Co. in Kutztown until retiring in 1988.
She lived in Bowers her entire life until she moved to be with her daughter in Las Vegas in 2008. While in Bowers, she was surrounded by her family and siblings. Shirley especially enjoyed spending summers with family at their beach home in Delaware, spending time with her grandchildren, and hosting family gatherings.
Shirley is survived by her children, Geraldine Malone wife of Timothy Malone of Waldport, OR and LeCindie Downs wife of James Downs of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Cathleen (Malone) Rose, Ryan Spadt, and Colin Malone and four great grandchildren, Ella Rose, Meara Rose, Finian Malone, and Keely Malone. Other survivors include two sisters, Dorothy DeWalt and Mary Ann Bond. She was predeceased by brothers Ralph Silsdorf and Lee Silsdorf and sister Eleanor Freed.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 16th from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM in Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Dryville with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 in the church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.
