Obituary

Stephen Nelson Snyder, of Fleetwood, PA, died unexpectedly, but peacefully on May 16 at Penn State, St. Joseph's Hospital in Reading, PA at the age of 66.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 46 years, Connie (Shuman); children, Scott A., husband of Kirsten (Stone), Sinking Spring; and Kristen E., wife of Kevin D. Fisk, Fleetwood. He will be missed by his brothers, Raymond E., husband of Janette (Raudenbush), of Fleetwood, and his two younger brothers, Mark A. & Matthew L. Snyder. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Zoey, Macklen, and Tuesday.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester R. and Anne (Bosak) Snyder, a sister, Pattianne, and a brother, Chester, Jr.

Stephen was born on June 19, 1950 in Valley Forge, PA. He was a 1968 graduate of Fleetwood High School and attended Kutztown University for one year. He married Connie in 1971. Stephen spent more than 30 hardworking years as a "Deka-cated" employee at East Penn Manufacturing, Inc.

Stephen ("Papa") was a devoted husband, fun-loving father, loyal brother, and adoring grandfather. His time with his family was always his top priority, from coaching little league baseball, to attending years of sporting events and dance recitals, to most recently babysitting and sharing his sweets with his grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy. When it was time to relax, Stephen was happiest with a vodka tonic or a chainsaw in his hand.

All who knew Stephen loved him dearly. He held onto true and lasting friendships from every chapter of his life, and loved his friends wholeheartedly. Stephen was a "collector" of many things. His various collections of baseball artifacts and petroleum heritage are legendary. He truly enjoyed traveling in and outside of the United States with both family and friends. He loved and cherished trips to the Caribbean, Outer Banks, Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Sturgis, Key West, Watkins Glen, and the National Parks.  Stephen will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of Stephen's life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 12:00 p.m. at Maidencreek Church, Blandon, PA. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. for visitation with family. Casual dress is suggested and encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, www.themmrf.org/donate or, in honor of his brothers, Mark & Matt, to Prospectus Berco, 840 William Lane, Reading, PA  19604, proberco.org/overview/.
