Obituary

Susan Jane Adams Graves, age 68, of Petaluma, CA, passed away Thursday July 19th, 2012, after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Clyde Melvin Graves, Jr.
Susan was born July 14, 1944, in Reading, PA the daughter of the late Glenn and Ruth (Sehl) Adams.
She was raised in Fleetwood. PA and graduated from Fleetwood High School in the class of 1962. Her formal education started with Penn State University. In 1966 she moved west to Fairfax, CA and soon after, the San Geronimo Valley. Twenty years later she came to reside in Petaluma, from where she would finish her B.A. in Fine Art at Sonoma State University.
Susan was an amazingly talented artist, most well known for her watercolor, though she excelled in many other paint mediums as well as being an accomplished pianist and a wonderful poet. She was truly a renaissance woman who over the span of her life achieved a professional level in landscaping, drywall finishing, animation and art instruction. Her true love was painting which has been her profession for twenty years. Of all her many achievements, Susan would say that the accomplishment in which she takes the most pride, is the raising of her son, Joe.
Susan touched so many lives with her love, strength and positive energy. She will be an inspiration to all who were blessed to have had her in their lives.
Susan is survived by her only son Joseph H. Millar V, his wife Ta Thi Hien and son Jack Millar. She also leaves behind on her father's side, an aunt Rosemary Adams and uncle Frank Adams and cousins Scott Adams, Mike Adams and Laura Smiley. On her mother's side are cousins Joan Louise Sehl, Sally Sehl McMillan and Mary Wilson Boegel. Other survivors include her first husband Joseph H. Millar IV.
A celebration of her life to be announced at a later date. Condolences can be sent to celebrationforsusan@gmail.com. A memorial fund has been established in her memory that benefits autistic children, a cause very close to her heart. Contributions can be made to The Susan Adams Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 307, Fleetwood, PA, 19522
