Susanne M. Schlegel

     Susanne M. Schlegel, 85, of Ontelaunee Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 15.

     She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Neil D. Schlegel, in 2006.

     Born in Kutztown, she was the daughter of the late Marion R. and Virginia (Stein) Dasher.

     Susanne was a homemaker who, alongside her husband, helped operate a successful building and remodeling contracting business for more than 35 years. She also managed the family's residential rental property business.

     She was a 1959 graduate of Fleetwood High School.

     Susanne was a longtime member of Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, Blandon, and a frequent attendee of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, West Lawn.

      She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed Mahjong, playing a multitude of card games, creating special memories with her grandchildren at Penn State football games and wintering at her vacation home in Florida. She could never tell a joke without somehow mixing up the punchline, a trait that always brought laughter to those around her.

      She is survived by two sons, Steve D., husband of Christine (Adams) Schlegel, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Christopher M., husband of Rosemary (Coldren) Schlegel, of Reading.

     She was a beloved Nana to five grandchildren, Amanda, Taylor, Alexander, Aaron, and Jillian, and three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brayden, and Harlow.

     Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, 117 W. Main St., Fleetwood, with Pastor Ryan Diffenderfer officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
