William B. Hertzog, age 91, of Kutztown passed away Sunday April 22, 2012 in Kutztown Manor. He was the husband of Alma M. (Fegley) Hertzog. They celebrated 71 years of marriage on April 8, 2012.
He was born in Oley, the son of the late Marion S. Hertzog and Paula (Hafer) Hertzog. A US Navy veteran of World War II.
William had been employed for 35 years by the former Boyertown Body Works, Boyertown as a supervisor. Other employment included being a cofounder and partner of Fegley and Hertzog Welding in Boyer's Junction through the 1940's. He also owned and operated a gas station in Fleetwood. He was a member of Huguenot Lodge No. 377 F&AM, Kutztown, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary of Reading, Ray Masters American Legion Post 217, Topton and the Lyons Fire Company. He was an avid golfer spending many of days at Rich Maiden Golf Course in Fleetwood.
Survived by his wife Alma and son Kerry Hertzog husband of Donna (Freda) Hertzog of Allentown and daughter Bonnie (Hertzog) wife of Warren Wessner of Kutztown. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Billy Hertzog husband of Marianne (Musike) Hertzog, Jami (Hertzog) wife of Paul Noll, Heath Wessner and is fiancé Kim Setnicky, Heather (Wessner) Kulp, Fianna Hertzog, and Kerigrace Hertzog. Four great grandchildren: Ethan Reider, Tristan Hertzog, William Hertzog III, and Sophia Kulp.
Other survivors include: a brother Kenneth Hertzog of State College, PA., step sister Catherine Eyrich of Oley, and a brother in law Harold Fegley husband of Rachael Fegley of Boyer's Junction. He was preceded in death by: his brother Walter Hertzog, half sister Irma Bookhultz and two step brothers Earl Hafer and Curtis Hafer.
Graveside services will be Friday April 27th at 11:00 AM in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.
